Christmas in July – Team Stamp It Blog Hop

This year’s Christmas in July Team Stamp It Blog Hop card was a bit tricky this year. The mini catalog that has many Christmas items has not been released yet so I needed to use what I have.

The first thing I did when trying to decide what to use for my card was to pick a color scheme. Pretty Peacock was a favorite of mine before so I was thrilled when Stampin’ Up brought it back. The pairs well with Lost Lagoon & Pool Party. Now that I knew I wanted to use greens, I pulled out my Christmas Pinecone die set and started to design.

The card base in Lost Lagoon is 8 1/2″ x 7 1/4″ scored at 4 1/4″, & 6 1/4″, then a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece adhered to make the front cover. I wanted the card to be able to stand up when open.

LEFT: After die cutting the pine bough in Pretty Peacock, cut it up so that you only use pine branches.

ABOVE: The 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Lost Lagoon was adhered with Stampin’ Seal + along the 3/4″ strip of the card to create the card front; from the side view will look like the picture above.

Using the Scalloped Contours die set, I cut a piece of Pool Party with the largest die, a piece of Basic White with the second to largest die and a piece of white with the second to smallest die. The larger white die-cut was run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder, the smaller was stamped with “joy” in Pretty Peacock and to you and yours this Christmas” in Lost Lagoon. I used the Foam Adhesive Strips on the banner and put the strips along the slit created by the die (I didn’t want the sides to tear).

The “Sending” die and the pinecone dies were cut out of cardstock with Adhesive Sheets on the back for ease of adhering. The “Sending” assembly was adhered to the front of the card with Mini Dimensionals, the pine branches & pinecones were adhered with Multipurpose Glue and a mini dimensional on the back of 1 pinecone. The card front was finished off with Iridescent Rhinestones and Wink of Stella on the dark part of the pinecones.

Love the front of this card. It reminds me of a postcard. But then it opens into an easel card.
