The card for the Easter Team Stamp-It blog hop this year was a bit trickier than past years, but I combined an online exclusive with some products from the January-April 2023 Mini Stampin’ Up Catalog for my final project.
When I saw the Elegant Borders dies online, I knew I had to have them. I began creating with them as soon as they arrived! These 4 borders add the WOW factor to almost any card. After looking over all the cards I made with this set I settled on one that I thought would work well with the largest stamp from the Decorative Borders stamp set.
After die-cutting, stamping the image & coloring it in with the Stampin’ Blends, I needed to figure out a sentiment…one that I owned and was still current. I picked “Easter Blessings” from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set. Now came the trickiest part of all…what banner would not over-power the rest of the card. After thumbing through all the current dies I had I settled on the banner die from the Queen Bee dies. Then upon further thinking, I also pulled out the smallest branch die from the same set. I used the branch die on the inside sheet so that you could see the Coastal Cabana from behind.
As I was assembling the front of the card, my daughter (who is also a SU Demo) suggested putting a ribbon through the top of the stamped & die-cut piece. Again, I looked over all my ribbon to find a coordinating ribbon that was current and did not over-power the card. The Pool Party Sheer ribbon seemed to work the best. I took the branch pieces that were cut out and added them to each side of the banner that was adhered using dimensionals. The card front was finished off with a few gems from the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds.
Pictured left is the set up I have for all my ribbons. They are ribbon bins that hang on a custom bar.
Pictured above is my “book of bling” as my daughter calls it. It is simply a 4″ x 6″ inexpensive photo album that I put my embellishments in. This way I can scan thru them quickly to pick what I want.
