Hydrangea card for Feb 2025 Blog Hop

Hydrangeas are beloved flowering shrubs known for their large, showy blooms and ability to change color based on soil pH (blue in acidic soil, pink in alkaline soil). In many cultures, hydrangeas represent heartfelt emotions. These beautiful flowers/bushes also remind me of my mom who passed away 10 years ago.

So, I started the idea for this card with the Thankful Garden Decorative Masks in mind. My mom always liked the deep blue hydrangeas the best so I used 3 different blue Stampin’ Up! inks with the masks.

To make the image pop, I pulled out the Everyday Arches dies. In order to create the card the way I wanted, I added a 5 ½” x 4 ¾” extra piece of cardstock, scored at ½” to adhere to the inside to make a tri-fold card.

Ink the Hydrangea:

  • Place Mask #1 over your cardstock and secure it with Post-it Removeable Tape, then using a Blending Brush, gently apply Balmy Blue Ink
  • Place Mask #2 over your cardstock (line up the notched in the mask) and secure it with Post-it Removeable Tape, then using a Blending Brush, gently apply Boho Blue Ink
  • Place Mask #3 over your cardstock (line up the notched in the mask) and secure it with Post-it Removeable Tape, then using a Blending Brush, gently apply Blueberry Bushel Ink
  • Place Mask #4 over your cardstock (line up the notched in the mask) and secure it with Post-it Removeable Tape, then using a Blending Brush, lightly apply Garden Green Ink
  • Place Mask #5 over your cardstock (line up the notched in the mask) and secure it with Post-it Removeable Tape, then using a Blending Brush, heavily apply Garden Green Ink

The Everyday Skies DSP was added to the inside with another Basic White arch to add the sentiments.

I don’t have many ‘SPRING’ oriented stamps, so I used the sentiments from the Choose Happy stamp set. This is a very versatile stamp set but limited for each occasion, so I improvised for the inside.

It seemed a bit plain, do I die cut leaves from the Thankful Garden dies in Garden green, cut it up & adhered it on the inside.
